Getting there
There is no train to the bay. Drive from Sydney: allow about 3 hours to Huskisson, a little longer to Mollymook, and further again to Pebbly Beach toward Batemans Bay.
Stops in order
The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.
Day 1. Jervis Bay
Day in Google Maps ↗1. Huskisson Beach~40 min at the stop
The first beach of the trip, and the start of the bay track. It is the easiest place to see how the bay sits before you drive south to Hyams.
Worth knowing: The Sydney ferry Lady Denman was built right here on Currambene Creek: her hull was launched on 5 December 1911. Retired in 1979, she came back to Huskisson and now sits in the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum.
Tip: Buy the Booderee pass online in the morning: after Huskisson the next big stop is already inside the park.

2. Hyams Beach~40 min at the stop
White sand in the NSW park, with no Booderee pass required. White Sands Walk arrives here from Greenfield Beach.
Tip: On a weekend the car park is gone by mid-morning. A weekday is calmer.

3. Murrays Beach~40 min at the stop
The Booderee beach. The A$20 vehicle day pass also covers the cape and Green Patch if you detour on the way.
Tip: The Booderee entry station is closed, so buy the pass online before you go or at the Visitor Centre. Keep it on your phone.

4. Cape St George~35 min at the stop
The 1860 lighthouse ruins on the edge of the bay. The Navy took the tower down in 1922 so it would not be confused with Point Perpendicular.
Worth knowing: The contractor built it 4 km north of the intended site, reportedly to be closer to his quarry. The light was hard to see from sea, and a parliamentary committee called it a case of 'very grave errors'.
Tip: A short walk from the car park. The cape is windy at sunset, so bring a layer.

Day 2. Mollymook
Day in Google Maps ↗5. Mollymook Beach~1 h at the stop
The long town beach between the bay and Ulladulla. The south headland, where Bannisters stands, is visible along the sand.
Tip: Swim between the flags when the patrol is on the tower. Morning on the sand is quieter than the afternoon.

6. Rick Stein at Bannisters~1 h 30 min at the stop
Rick Stein's restaurant at the Bannisters hotel, 191 Mitchell Parade, Mollymook. The pin sits on Mitchell Parade at the south headland, so keep the street address in the navigator.
Tip: Book the table. Check that day's hours on bannisters.com.au, phone (02) 4455 3044.

7. Ulladulla Harbour~40 min at the stop
A working harbour ten minutes from the beach: fishing boats, the wharf, and a place to eat fish on the wall.
Worth knowing: The fleet has been blessed every Easter since 1956. The tradition came from Sicily with the Italian fishing families, who moved here with their trawlers from Wollongong in 1937.
Tip: Buy cooked fish and sit on the wharf. In the evening this is locals, not a tour group.

Day 3. Pebbly Beach
Day in Google Maps ↗8. Pebbly Beach~1 h 10 min at the stop
A beach in Murramarang National Park where eastern grey kangaroos come onto the sand. Entry is A$8 per vehicle per day. The machines take cash and card.
Worth knowing: The kangaroos live at the forest edge and come onto the open sand on their own. Food from a hand breaks that.
Tip: Watch the kangaroos and do not feed them. Dogs are not allowed in NSW national parks. From 21 July to 21 December 2026 the park has 1080 fox baits, which are lethal to cats and dogs, and the sites are signed. Access is by Pebbly Beach Road or Mount Agony Road. The park can close for fire or weather. NPWS Nowra: 02 4428 6300.

9. Depot Beach~40 min at the stop
The next quiet beach in the same park, south of Pebbly. The same A$8 day pass covers it if you have not left the park.
Tip: The way in is East Lynne, Mount Agony Road and North Durras Road. At Pretty Beach, further south, the machine is card only.

Before you go
- Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
- Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
- On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
