Getting there
By car: the M1 Pacific Motorway, about 75 km and 70 minutes to the Reptile Park (Somersby, by the Gosford exit), then 18 km to Terrigal; the drive back from Terrigal takes about 1.5 hours. Depending on your route through Sydney there may be tolls. Parking at the Reptile Park, on Terrigal Drive by Rotary Park (limited) and free parking at The Haven. Without a car: Central Coast & Newcastle Line train from Central to Gosford (about 1.5 hours). There is no bus from Gosford station to the Reptile Park, only taxi or Uber (show the receipt for discounted entry). Bus 68 (also 66A, 66C, 67) runs from Gosford to Terrigal. Honestly, without a car this day is noticeably slower and pricier.

5. The Skillion~40 min at the stop
Terrigal's landmark: a grassy headland rising steeply from The Haven and dropping to the sea. The climb is short but steep, and the top looks back over Terrigal Beach and the coast to the north.
Tip: Go straight after lunch while the kids still have energy; little ones will need a carrier. Hold children's hands at the top: the slope ends in a cliff. There is no shade, so bring hats and water.
