  1. 1. Jackman & McRoss: Battery Point breakfast~30 min at the stop

The bakery institution since 1998 in the Georgian quarter: the scallop pie is a Tasmanian rite.

Tip: The pastry queue is the point. Come at opening. Seats inside are few.

  2. 2. Salamanca Place~45 min at the stop

1830s sandstone warehouses: galleries, bars and (on Saturdays) the 300-stall market.

Worth knowing: The sandstone warehouses were built in the 1830s and 1840s for Hobart's port. The Saturday market has used the square since 1972.

Tip: Come down Kelly's Steps: the 1839 stone cut from Battery Point.

Before you go

  • Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
  • Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
  • On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
