Getting there

Moonlit is in Pearcedale, on the way out of Melbourne, before the peninsula proper. The gondola and the adventure park then sit next to each other at Arthurs Seat.

Stops in order

The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.

  1. 1. Moonlit Sanctuary~1 h 30 min at the stop

A wildlife park at 550 Tyabb-Tooradin Road, Pearcedale. By day the animals are in their enclosures. The lantern tour is a separate evening booking.

Worth knowing: The sanctuary keeps orange-bellied parrots, among Australia's rarest birds and the focus of a rescue programme, and even quokkas, which in the wild live only in Western Australia.

Tip: Day entry is A$37 for an adult, A$19 for a child aged 4 to 17, free under 4, and A$99 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Open 9:30 to 16:00, last entry 15:00, closed Christmas Day. The night tour is booked only: A$75 for an adult, A$44 for a child aged 4 to 17, and A$27 under 4.

  2. 2. Arthurs Seat Eagle~1 h 10 min at the stop

A gondola that takes prams. Every group gets its own cabin, up to 8 people. There is a cafe and ice cream at the top.

Worth knowing: The 34 eight-seat cabins were made in Switzerland, the summit is 305 m high and the tallest tower lifts the rope 22 m. The gondola replaced the old chairlift that was already carrying people up the hill in the early 1960s.

Tip: A child aged 4 to 16 pays A$23.50 return, and under 4s are free. In the morning look for kangaroos under the line and at Seawinds Gardens. Do not feed them. Phone 03 5987 0600.

  3. 3. Enchanted Adventure~2 h at the stop

The park at 55 Purves Road, just by the gondola: mazes, slides and a canopy walk. The rope courses have height rules.

Tip: Check tickets and the height rules on enchantedadventure.com.au on the day. Phone 03 5981 8449. Allow 2 to 3 hours on the ground, and book a rope course separately if you want it.

Before you go

  • Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
  • Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
  • On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
