  2. 2. Westerfolds Park~1 h at the stop

A picnic, a playground and the river path. Locals come on here after Heide, once the museum is enough.

Worth knowing: The land was bought from the Crown in 1847, and in 1936 the Turner family built the Manor on the hill. In 1971 the 1,430-hectare Yarra Valley Park was declared along the river as a wildlife corridor.

Tip: Leave the Yarra for the path. The trail is shared with bikes. The car gates close in the evening, and the walking entry stays open.

Before you go

  • Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
  • Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
  • On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
