Stops in order

The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.

  1. 1. Middle Brighton station~5 min at the stop

The Sandringham line ends this trip a short street-walk from the sea. The sand is about fifteen minutes downhill.

Tip: The train back can be Brighton Beach station if you walk on to Green Point and would rather not return by the same street.

  2. 2. Brighton bathing boxes~30 min at the stop

The row of painted bathing boxes on Dendy Street Beach. They are private sheds. The view is from the sand.

Worth knowing: The boxes have stood on Dendy Street beach since the 19th century, when sea bathing needed a private changing hut. They are still privately leased.

Tip: Stay outside them. Morning light falls on the fronts. Swim if the flags are up on the beach.

  3. 3. Green Point~20 min at the stop

The south end of this stretch of sand, already quieter than the boxes. Brighton Beach station is close, on the Sandringham line.

Tip: The bay wind is cold. The train back to the city is at Brighton Beach.

Before you go

  • Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
  • Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
  • On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
