Stops in order
The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.
1. Philip Park~30 min at the stop
The park at Main Beach where The Spit shore begins. The flags are here. The dunes and the seaway wall are further out.
Tip: Swim between the flags before you head into the dunes. Stay out of the water at the Seaway wall.

2. Federation Walk~30 min at the stop
The last natural dunes on this coast, and the walk out toward the Seaway wall. This is where the river meets the ocean. There is no crossing to South Stradbroke Island.
Worth knowing: Locals created the walk: in 1999 the Main Beach Progress Association won a Centenary of Federation grant, the council matched it, and Federation Walk was built. Volunteers still plant over 10,000 natives here each year.
Tip: The wall is for the view and for fishing from the rocks. Walk back the same way to the flags at Main Beach.

Before you go
- Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
- Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
- On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
