Stops in order
The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.
1. Orleigh Park~25 min at the stop
The river lawn where West End swims and lies on the grass. Start here while the market is still setting up.
Tip: Locals do swim here, but rain dirties the river. Judge it by the colour and by who is already in.

2. Davies Park market~1 h at the stop
The Saturday West End Markets under the figs by the river: over 150 vendors, from farm produce and street food to fashion and crafts. The main reason to skip South Bank on a Saturday morning.
Worth knowing: The market has traded in Davies Park, at Montague Road and Jane Street, for years. It's now under new management as the West End Markets.
Tip: 6am to 2pm March to November, to 1pm December to February. Busy by 8am; the best is gone by noon.

3. Boundary Street~30 min at the stop
Books, coffee and the shopfronts the suburb actually lives in. Walk it slowly. It is not a corridor to the bridge.
Tip: Take the coffee and walk north to the river, not back to the market.

4. GOMA~50 min at the stop
Finish at the gallery and Kurilpa Bridge. The permanent collection is free, so this is air-conditioning, not a compulsory ticket.
Tip: If the rooms are shut, stay on the river lawn. A bus and the ferry run back to West End.

Before you go
- Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
- Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
- On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
