Go by car. The lookouts sit on the highway.

Stops in order

The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.

  1. 1. Wild Horse Mountain~50 min at the stop

700 m uphill on concrete to the fire tower. The peaks, the passage and the plain from one platform. This is the walking part of the day.

Worth knowing: Wild Horse Mountain is the smallest of the Glass House Mountains at just 123 m, and the only one east of the Bruce Highway. That is why its tower shows all the other peaks laid out in a row.

Tip: There is no toilet. Lock the car. Come down the same path. Do not climb Ngungun or Tibrogargan today.

  2. 2. Glass House Mountains township~40 min at the stop

The small town between the two lookouts. Eat here, because the barbecues at the next lookout are closed.

Tip: Take whatever is open on the main street, and water for the lookout.

  3. 3. Glass House Mountains Lookout~40 min at the stop

A platform in the forest on Glass House Woodford Road. The signs name each peak. A short forest loop if your legs still want it.

Tip: The barbecues are closed until 21 February 2027. Tables are there. Leave while it is light. The national park tracks are for daylight.

Before you go

  • Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
  • Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
  • On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
