Stops in order
The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.
1. Pelican Point~25 min at the stop
A sandy spit at the end of Matilda Bay where pelicans rest and migratory waders land. Quiet and birds first, then the foreshore and the people with cameras.
Worth knowing: Pelican Point reaches into the Swan beside the University of Western Australia and is a stop for migratory shorebirds.
Tip: Stay off the nesting areas. There is almost no shade on the spit.

2. Matilda Bay~30 min at the stop
The wide river shore where the university meets the water. A lawn and yachts. This is an after-work walk.
Tip: On a weekday evening it is busy, and that is the point. Sit on the grass while the light is still on the water.

3. Crawley Edge Boatshed~15 min at the stop
The blue boatshed on stilts. Two minutes of looking. The evening already happened on the spit and the lawn behind you.
Tip: Do not block the boat ramp for a photo. A bus runs back along Mounts Bay Road.

Before you go
- Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
- Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
- On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
