Stops in order
The text version of the route: stops, time at each and the legs between them. Times are estimates, without queues, traffic or swims.
1. Fremantle Arts Centre~40 min at the stop
The old asylum on the hill. Start up here. The courtyard is quiet, and the Cappuccino Strip can wait.
Worth knowing: The centre occupies the former Fremantle asylum, built by convicts in the 1860s. It became an arts centre in the 1970s.
Tip: Sunday fills the courtyard with a market. Other days, the galleries and the shade are enough.

2. Walyalup Koort~20 min at the stop
The new civic square on the old town-hall site. Locals cut across it on errands. Visitors hunt the markets and miss it.
Tip: A short pause. If a fair is on, stay. If not, keep walking to the fishing harbour.

3. Fishing Boat Harbour~45 min at the stop
Fremantle's working fishing harbour: trawlers, gulls and seafood cafés along the wharf. People come for fresh fish and chips, not for selfies by the Ferris wheel.
Tip: Buy the fish and eat it on a bench. You do not need the restaurant with the view.

4. South Mole~30 min at the stop
The rock wall into the ocean. Fishers and anyone who does not need Cottesloe come here at sunset. Dolphins show up along the wall sometimes.
Tip: The wind is serious. Walk to the end only if the swell is not washing the rocks.

Before you go
- Route times are estimates: walking, driving and a sensible pause at each stop. Add queues, traffic and swims yourself.
- Prices, timetables and trail status change. Check the venue's official site and the state transport app before you go.
- On beaches, swim only between the red and yellow flags. Use sun protection even when it is cloudy.
